Monarch Butterfly Habitat Exchange, South Central Region

As of December 2016, Biodiversity Works has accepted the position of Interim Administrator for the Monarch Butterfly Habitat Exchange (MBHE), South Central Region, which is being developed in partnership with Environmental Defense Fund and other stakeholders. In a habitat exchange, landowners who restore or conserve monarch habitat earn credits based on the quality of the habitat. The credits can be sold through the exchange to a variety of entities willing to invest in the recovery of the monarch or donated directly to monarch recovery. The MBHE is in a pilot testing phase throughout 2017, with Biodiversity Works playing a central role in coordinating pilot restoration projects by engaging landowners, conducting outreach to investors, developing management plans, assessing habitat quality on sites, and tracking progress.

We welcome donations in direct support of the Monarch Butterfly Habitat Exchange.
